Step-by-step instructions for using ready-made patterns!
Step 1
Download a PDF document and save it to your device (for example, to your desktop or to the Downloads folder).
Step 2
Run the file using the Adobe Acrobat Reader application Important: use Acrobat Reader specifically, not browsing in your browser window.
Step 3
Go to the "File" menu and select "Print", or find the print button/icon on the toolbar.
Step 4
In the printer settings window (Print > Properties or Print Settings), find the following options:
1. Zoom Settings /Size: Select the «Custom Zoom» option and enter a value of 100%. Very important: If you are printing the first sheet of the pattern with the «Test Square 1» file attached, then enter 95% instead of 100% in the «Custom scale» field.
2. Page Orientation: Set «Auto» (Automatic orientation).
3. Paper source / Page options: Carefully check that the check mark is removed from the item «Select paper source by PDF page size» (or similar in meaning). This checkmark should not be active.
Step 5
Printing a test square: In the print dialog box, find the Pages or Page Range section. Enter the number "1" to print only the first page (test square). Click "Print".
Step 6
Control check:
1. Take a ruler and carefully measure the printed square horizontally and vertically. The result should be exactly 10 centimeters in each direction.
2. Inspect the edges of the sheet: There should be clear margins (white margins) around the square from all four sides. If the square is pressed against the edge of the paper, this is a mistake.
Step 7
1. If the square is 10×10 cm and there are margins: Feel free to print the entire pattern file (remove the «1» from the «Pages» field or select «All»).
2. If the size is not 10×10 cm or there are no margins: 1. Open the print settings again (step 4). 2. Adjust the value in the «Custom zoom» field: If the square is less than 10 cm, zoom in (for example, 101%, 102%). If it is more than 10 cm, reduce it (for example, 99%, 98%).
3. Re-print ONLY the test square (step 5) and check again (step 6). Do this until you get the exact size of 10×10 cm with margins.
Step 8
Assembling the pattern:
1. After printing all the sheets, carefully glue them together.
2. Focus on the frame lines printed on each sheet, as well as the alignment of the control marks on each side.
3. Connect the sheets: Align the bottom line of the frame of one sheet with the right line of the frame of the neighboring sheet.
Step 9
The principle of assembling the sheets is shown in the diagram: letters sequentially run horizontally, numbers vertically.
