HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS CORRECTLY AND DETERMINE YOUR SIZE
The perfect fit starts here: we learn how to determine the right size of a pattern using tables and correct measurements. Your confident start.
To select the correct pattern size, take your body measurements.
Compare your measurements with the standard tabular values.
The acceptable deviation between your data and the tabular values is usually up to ± 2 cm.
Choosing the size by product category:
Shoulder products (dresses, blouses, coats): The key measure is the chest circumference.
Waist/hip products (skirts, trousers): The key measure is the hip circumference.
These are the main parameters for determining your size in a pattern.
Remember the fundamental difference:
The values in the Table are your measurements. The measurements of the finished product are the dimensions of the thing already sewn according to our pattern, which include allowances for freedom of fit (ease) and will always be larger than your body measurements.
You can find measurements of the finished product in the instructions for each of our patterns.
